Rebuy Smart Collections reporting analytics lets you track how customers interact with your collection pages and which collections and products are driving revenue. The Smart Collections analytics dashboard provides data on collection performance, product visibility, filter usage, and sort behavior — so you can identify top-performing collections, spot underperforming products, and make data-driven merchandising decisions.
This guide covers how to access Smart Collections analytics, what each reporting table and metric means, and how to use the data to optimize your collections.
Note: Smart Collections analytics is available to all merchants using Rebuy Smart Collections. The analytics in this article are specific to the Smart Collections reporting section. Smart Collections data also contributes to the widget-level analytics in the main Reports section of the Rebuy dashboard, but those widget-level metrics behave differently — see the Important Note on Data Accuracy section below.
How to Run a Smart Collections Analytics Report
To view your Smart Collections analytics, navigate to the reporting section from the Rebuy dashboard.
Open the Rebuy Admin Dashboard.
Select Reports from the left-hand navigation menu.
Click Smart Collections Analytics within the Reports section.
The report loads automatically with the default date range set to Last 30 Days.
To change the reporting period, click the date picker at the top of the report. You can select a preset range (Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, Last 60 Days, Last 90 Days) or set a custom date range using the calendar. The report updates automatically when you change the date selection.
Each reporting table includes an Export Data button in the top right corner, allowing you to download the data for the selected date range as a CSV file.
Note: Smart Collections reports reflect the timezone configured in your Shopify store settings. This timezone is derived from the iana_timezone field in your store's Shopify admin data. Both the web dashboard and exported reports use this same timezone.
At-a-Glance Metrics
The At-a-Glance section at the top of the Smart Collections analytics dashboard provides two high-level metrics summarizing your collections performance over the selected date range, along with preview tables for Top Collections, Top Products, Top Sort By, and Top Filters.
Metric | What it measures |
Sessions | Total number of unique user sessions that involved Smart Collections during the selected period. Each session where a customer viewed a Smart Collections page counts as one session. |
Sessions in Collections | The percentage of total store sessions in which a customer viewed a Smart Collections page. For example, if 341 out of 850 total sessions included a collection page view, Sessions in Collections is 40.12%. |
Note: If Smart Collections isn't enabled yet or there hasn't been any recent activity, both metrics will show 0 or 0%. Data will appear once the feature is active and shoppers are browsing your collections.
Important Note on Data Accuracy
Smart Collections analytics metrics update in real time, so you can see the latest collection activity as it happens. However, there is an important distinction between Smart Collections analytics and the Widget Report in Rebuy's main reporting section.
Smart Collections analytics are powered by browser-based analytic events. These events depend on the customer's browser successfully sending tracking data. If a browser blocks or fails to send a tracking event (due to ad blockers, network issues, or other client-side factors), that data point may be missing.
The Widget Report uses line item attribution, which is server-side and does not depend on browser events, making it 100% accurate for revenue tracking.
Always use the Widget Report as your source of truth for Smart Collections revenue. Smart Collections analytics are best used for understanding browsing behavior, collection engagement, and product discovery patterns.
Understanding the Smart Collections Reporting Tables
The Smart Collections analytics dashboard includes five tabs: At-a-Glance, Top Collections, Top Products, Top Sort By, and Top Filters. Each table provides a different view of how customers interact with your collections.
Top Collections Table
The Top Collections table shows which collections are receiving the most sessions and how well they convert into revenue. Use this table to identify high-traffic collections that aren't driving sales, compare performance across collections, and prioritize which collections to feature or optimize.
Column | Definition |
Collection | The name of the Smart Collection. Click the collection name to drill into individual collection metrics. |
Sessions | Total number of unique user sessions that viewed this collection during the selected period. |
Revenue | Total revenue generated from purchases that originated through this collection, including purchases made from the collection page or from a product detail page (PDP) accessed through the collection. |
Conversion Rate | The percentage of sessions on this collection that resulted in a purchase. |
Clickthrough | The percentage of sessions where a customer clicked through from the collection to a product detail page. |
Individual Collection Metrics
Click any collection name in the Top Collections table to drill into detailed metrics for that specific collection. The individual collection view includes trend charts for Conversion Rate and Collection Revenue over the selected date range, plus three KPI cards.
Metric | Definition |
Sessions | Total sessions that viewed this collection. |
Revenue per User | Average revenue per user session on this collection. |
Sessions in Collections | This collection's share of total store sessions that involved Smart Collections. |
Below the KPIs, the individual collection view includes its own Products, Filters, and Sort By sub-tabs, so you can see product performance, filter usage, and sort behavior specific to that collection.
An Edit Settings button in the top right corner links directly to the collection's configuration page, so you can adjust settings based on what the data shows.
Top Products Table
The Top Products table shows which products are getting the most visibility across your collections and how those products perform in terms of clicks, add-to-cart actions, and revenue. Use this table to identify top performers, spot high-impression products with low conversion, and decide which products to feature or promote.
Column | Definition |
Product | The product name and image. Click the product to drill into variant-level metrics. |
Impressions | Number of times this product was displayed to a customer on a Smart Collections page. Each time the product appears on a page the customer views, it counts as one impression. |
Revenue | Total revenue from purchases of this product that originated through Smart Collections (from collection pages or PDPs accessed through collections). |
Conversion Rate | Percentage of impressions that resulted in a purchase. |
Clickthrough | Percentage of impressions that resulted in the customer clicking through to the product detail page. |
Add to Cart — Collection Page | Total value of this product added to the cart directly from Smart Collection pages. |
Add to Cart — Product Page | Total value of this product added to the cart from the PDP after being accessed through a collection. |
Add to Cart Total | Combined total value of add-to-cart actions from both collection pages and PDPs. |
Product-Specific Metrics
Click any product in the Top Products table to open a detailed panel for that product. The panel shows which collections the product is found in, a link to the product's Shopify product page, and three KPI cards.
Metric | Definition |
Impressions | Total times this product was shown across all Smart Collections. |
Revenue | Total revenue attributed to this product through Smart Collections. |
Conversion Rate | Percentage of impressions that resulted in a purchase. |
Below the KPIs, a Variant Sales Data table shows variant-level performance with a searchable list.
Column | Definition |
Variant | The variant name and image. |
Impressions | The number of times this variant was shown in collections. |
Revenue | Revenue attributed to this variant. |
% of Total | This variant's share of all revenue for the parent product within Smart Collections. |
Top Sort By Table
The Top Sort By table shows which sort options customers are using most frequently when browsing your collections. Use this data to understand customer preferences and ensure the most popular sorting methods surface the right products.
Column | Definition |
Sort By | The sort option selected by the customer (e.g., "New Arrivals," "Best Sellers," "Lowest Price," "Highest Price"). |
Count | Number of times this sort option was used during the selected period. |
Top Filters Table
The Top Filters table shows which search filters customers are using when refining products within your collections. Use this data to understand which filtering options matter most to your customers and to ensure those filters are well-configured.
Column | Definition |
Filter | The name of the filter (e.g., "Color," "Size," "Brand"). |
Count | Total number of times this filter was used during the selected period. |
When you expand a filter row, you can see the specific attribute values customers selected.
Column | Definition |
Value | The specific attribute value selected (e.g., "Red" under the "Color" filter). |
Count | Number of times this specific value was used. |
% of Total | This value's share of all selections for the parent filter. |
Frequently Asked Questions About Smart Collections Analytics
How often do Smart Collections analytics metrics update?
Smart Collections analytics metrics accumulate and process in real time. You can view the latest collection, product, and filter data as it comes in without waiting for a daily refresh. The Widget Report in Rebuy's main reporting section (which also includes Smart Collections data) refreshes once every 24 hours.
How does Smart Collections revenue attribution work?
Smart Collections revenue attribution tracks revenue from purchases that originated through a collection interaction. When a customer views a Smart Collections page and adds an item to the cart — either directly from the collection page or from a product detail page (PDP) accessed through the collection — and then completes the purchase, the revenue is attributed to Smart Collections as Rebuy Generated Revenue (RGR).
Why does the revenue in Smart Collections analytics not match the Widget Report?
Revenue differences between Smart Collections analytics and the Widget Report are expected. Smart Collections analytics uses browser-based tracking events that can be incomplete if a customer's browser blocks tracking (ad blockers, privacy settings, network issues). The Widget Report uses server-side line item attribution, which is 100% accurate. Always use the Widget Report as your source of truth for revenue. Smart Collections analytics is best used for understanding browsing behavior and engagement patterns.
What timezone are Smart Collections reports generated in?
Smart Collections reports reflect the timezone configured in your Shopify store settings, derived from the iana_timezone field in your store's Shopify admin data. Both web dashboard views and exported data use this same timezone.
Can I export Smart Collections analytics data?
Yes. Each reporting table (Top Collections, Top Products, Top Sort By, Top Filters) includes an Export Data button in the top right corner. Click it to download the data as a CSV file for the selected date range and table.
What does "Sessions in Collections" mean?
"Sessions in Collections" is a percentage metric showing how much of your total store traffic interacts with Smart Collections. It represents the portion of all store sessions during the selected period in which a customer viewed at least one Smart Collections page. A single session with multiple collection page views still counts as one session.
Where can I find Smart Collections data in the main Rebuy reports?
Smart Collections metrics are also included in the Widget Analytics section under the main Reports area. The Widget Report includes Smart Collections revenue data using line item attribution, which is more accurate than browser-based events. However, Widget Report metrics refresh once every 24 hours, while Smart Collections analytics update in real time.
Can I see how Featured Products and Promo Tiles are performing?
Yes. Featured Products and Promo Tiles performance is reflected in the Smart Collections analytics data. Products set as Featured will appear in the Top Products table with their impression, revenue, and conversion data. You can track how effectively these featured placements drive engagement by comparing their metrics to non-featured products.
Troubleshooting Smart Collections Analytics
Smart Collections revenue does not match the Widget Report
If the revenue in Smart Collections analytics differs from the Widget Report, this is expected. Smart Collections analytics relies on browser-based events, which can be incomplete. The Widget Report uses server-side line item attribution and is 100% accurate for revenue.
Resolution: Use the Widget Report for accurate revenue figures. Use Smart Collections analytics for behavioral insights like collection popularity, clickthrough rates, filter usage, and sort preferences.
Smart Collections metrics appear incomplete or lower than expected
If analytics show fewer sessions, lower revenue, or missing data, the most likely cause is incomplete browser event tracking. Ad blockers, privacy browser settings, network interruptions, or JavaScript errors can all prevent tracking events from being sent.
Resolution: Smart Collections analytics is a behavioral trends tool, not an exact accounting system. For precise revenue and conversion figures, use the Widget Report. If you believe data is missing beyond what browser limitations would explain, contact Rebuy support with your store URL, the affected date range, and the specific metrics in question.
KPI data shows 0 or 0%
If the Sessions and Sessions in Collections metrics show 0 or 0%, Smart Collections likely isn't enabled yet or there hasn't been any session activity in the selected date range. Confirm that Smart Collections is active on your store and that customers are browsing your collection pages. Adjust the date range to a broader period to check for historical data.
