What are Date Based Data Source Rules?

Date-based rules are a set of guidelines or conditions that are determined by specific dates or time periods. These rules can be used to automate various tasks and processes in an e-commerce business, such as promotions, discounts, inventory management, shipping, and delivery.

By setting up rules based on specific dates or time periods, you as a store owner can ensure that your promotions and campaigns start and end automatically, without the need for manual intervention.

For example, you could set up a rule that triggers a special promotion on a certain date, such as a holiday or anniversary. The rule could specify the discount amount, the products included in the promotion, and the duration of the promotion. Once the rule is set up, it will automatically start the promotion on the specified date and end it when the duration expires, without you having to manually activate or deactivate anything in Rebuy.

Overall, date-based rules can help you streamline your marketing campaigns and promotions, making it easier to manage your e-commerce business and improve your bottom line.

Configuration of Date and Time

By default, the time in Rebuy will match your configured timezone settings. However, you can modify your timezone settings at any point by visiting your settings page. When constructing your rules on the data source page, your store's timezone settings will be indicated as seen below.

In this particular example, the merchant has set up a rule that triggers the addition of a free gift to the customer's cart between the 3rd and 5th of the month, as long as the cart subtotal is above $59. By using a date-based rule, you can ensure that the promotion starts and ends automatically, without the need for manual intervention.

This type of promotion can be very effective in driving sales and customer engagement, as customers are often motivated to make a purchase in order to receive a free gift. By using date-based rules to automate the promotion, you can save time and effort, while still providing a great customer experience.

Testing and Setting Live

Testing the qualifying rules before enabling the promotion or offer can help ensure that everything is working as expected, and prevent any issues or errors from occurring when the promotion goes live.

You can use the Rule Set Previewer or test out the widget and data source rules on the live store while having the widgets "Live Mode" turned off and enabling Rebuys preview mode. By doing so, merchants can see how the rules are applied to different scenarios and ensure that all regular functionality is working correctly.

Once you have confirmed that the qualifying rules are working as expected, you can then set the date rules and turn the widget's "Live Mode" on to enable the promotion or offer. By following these steps, you can ensure that their date-based rules are set up correctly and functioning properly.
