Why am I seeing an error modal on my storefront?

After installing Rebuy on your store, you may occasionally see an error modal appear on your storefront. Here's an example of what that might look like:

⚠️ Heads up: The screenshot below is just an example of what the modal might look like. The message itself will vary depending on the specific error.

What causes this error modal to appear?

Although the modal is displayed by Rebuy, the error itself is generated by Shopify. These are standard Shopify error messages triggered by specific user or network actions on your site.

✅ With Rebuy installed:

Rebuy intercepts Shopify’s usual error handling and instead displays the error message inside a modal — keeping users on the same page for a smoother experience.

🚫 Without Rebuy:

Shopify would normally redirect users to a separate error page, which interrupts the shopping flow.

How can I stop the error modal from appearing?

<details>
Common causes

This modal appears because Shopify has detected an error — not due to an issue with Rebuy itself. Some common causes include:

 • 🔁 Looping or stacked network requests

 • ❌ Adding an out-of-stock product to the cart

 • 🛍️ Applying a selling plan to an ineligible product

 • 🧩 Other storefront-side conflicts with Shopify rules

To resolve the issue:

 1. Review recent actions on your store when the modal appears.

 2. Look for any patterns or specific triggers.

 3. Fix the underlying issue that's causing Shopify to send the error.

Once resolved, the modal should stop appearing.
