Overview

Leveraging the Smart Cart’s Checkout button to trigger a popup presents merchants with the opportunity to showcase a special offer to customers at the critical moment when they are on the verge of completing their purchase. This strategic placement ensures that customers encounter the offer precisely when they are most likely to convert on the contents of their cart, maximizing the potential for increased sales and customer satisfaction.

For example, if a customer is about to check out with a single item in their cart, the popup could offer them a related product at a discounted price or suggest upgrading to a higher-value version of the item they are purchasing. This not only increases the average order value but also enhances the customer experience by providing them with additional value right when they are most likely to be receptive to it.

FAQ

  • Can I use this widget without Shopify Plus?

    • Technically you need Shopify Plus, but you could always build a hidden product at a discounted price to present via the pop-up if you would like. You can follow this guide to get started on that. However, we highly recommend you upgrade to Shopify Plus for more great features!

  • Can I have multiple pre-purchase widgets?

    • No, you can only have one pre-purchase widget. But you can adjust your data sources to pop up whenever you'd like!

  • Can this widget perform as an up-sell instead of a cross-sell offer?

    • Not currently. Merchants can only use this widget to offer customers the option to add more products to the cart. It doesn't replace any products in the cart with the item(s) in the offer.
