Using the Smart Cart’s Checkout button to trigger a popup gives merchants the opportunity to surface a special offer to customers at the point in their journey where they’re about to convert on the contents of their cart.
If you haven’t already enabled and configured your Rebuy Smart Cart, please get started with this helpful guide.
Create the Widget
From the Rebuy Admin, click on the Smart Cart tab.
Scroll down to Pre-purchse Upsell and toggle it on, then click Create pre-purchase Upsell:
Name your Pre-purchase popup widget and click Create it!.
The widget has now been created. From here, you can see which widget is assigned to the popup triggered by the checkout button, however, you will not be able to edit the Layout or associated Data Source. For that, continue to Step 2.
Configure the Widget’s Appearance
Click on the Rebuy Admin’s Widgets tab, then Cart.
From here you can see the Pre-purchase cross-sell popup you just created. Click on the name or ID attribute in order to edit the widget.
Configure the Data Source
From inside the widget settings, click on Data Source. By default, this widget is configured with Rebuy’s Top Sellers Endpoint. Go ahead and change or customize the Data Source to fit your specific promotion. If you make any changes, you’ll need to Save them before going back to the Widget settings for our final step.
Installing the widget
From the Data Source, head back to the Widget settings for the Pre-purchase popup and click Install:
Now your popup is live!
Can I have multiple pre-purchase widgets?
No, you can only have one pre-purchase widget. But you can adjust your data sources to pop up whenever you'd like!
Can this widget perform as an up-sell instead of a cross-sell offer?
Not currently. Merchants can only use this widget to offer customers the option to add more products to the cart. It doesn't replace any products in the cart with the item(s) in the offer.
Can this widget be triggered from my online store's cart page instead of from Rebuy's Smart Cart?
Yes! The pre-purchase popup cross-sell widget can be triggered from the cart page by manually placing its <div> in your theme.liquid file.
