Configure how your search results are presented to shoppers. The presentation of search results is just as crucial as the contents of the results themselves. Customize search results to minimize friction and maximize conversions.

Results Page Editor

The Results Page Editor allows you to customize the Results Page to create a more personalized experience for your customers.

Layout Options

You can choose from the following layout options for the Results Page:

  • Dropdown Layout

  • Sidebar Layout

  • Flyout Filters

You can preview how each layout will appear on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

Note: Currently, the same layout must be applied across all device types; different layouts for different devices are not supported.

Text Settings

Toggle Search Bar on Results Page

Some merchants have a search bar in their website header (not just the search icon but the actual bar). If you have a search bar already in the header, you may prefer to disable the one on the Results Page to avoid redundancy.

How does it work?

  • By default, the search bar is displayed on the Results Page.

  • When you toggle the search bar off, it will no longer appear on the Results Page.

  • Important: If the search bar is disabled, shoppers will need to use the Quick View search to initiate a new search.

Customization Options

Search Bar Text

  • Customize the placeholder text for the search bars on both the Quick View and Results Pages.

  • Tailored text helps create a more personalized and branded search experience for shoppers.

Page Title

  • You can customize the page title for your Results Page. By default, it will display:

    • (term) - the search term used

    • (count) - the number of search results found

General Settings

Filters and Settings

The new Filters & Sorting section in the Results Page Editor gives merchants more control over how filters and sorting options appear and function on their website.

Filter Settings

Here, you can customize the appearance and functionality of filter options:

  • Icon Selectors: Choose between two icon styles for expanding or collapsing filter options:

    • Plus/Minus (default)

    • Chevron

  • Show Product Count: Show the number of products available for each filter option (enabled by default).

  • Show Selected Filters: Display selected filters at the top of the filter list for easy visibility (enabled by default).

  • Keep All Filter Options Collapsed: By default, all filters will be collapsed when the page loads. Shoppers can expand them as needed (enabled by default).

  • Always Show First Filter Expanded: Choose whether the first filter in the list should automatically expand when the page loads (disabled by default).

Sorting Dropdown Styling

Customize the appearance of the "Sort By" dropdown:

  • Sort By: Choose between two styles for how the sorting dropdown is displayed:

    • Box Around Dropdown (default)

    • No Box Around Dropdown

Column Breakpoints

Customize how your search results are displayed across different devices, including mobile, tablet, and desktop. You can adjust the display settings for each device type individually to ensure an optimized viewing experience.

Pagination

Customize how products are displayed on search result pages by offering new pagination and scrolling options. Merchants can choose between different styles of product pagination, including continuous scrolling, load-more buttons, and customizable per-page options.

Pagination Options:

This feature introduces five distinct pagination styles:

  1. Default Paging
Displays 15 products per page by default.

  2. Default Paging + Per Page Dropdown
Adds a dropdown allowing shoppers to select how many products they want to see per page. Merchants can customize the dropdown options.

  3. Default Paging + Fixed Products per Page
Allows merchants to set a specific number of products per page without offering a dropdown. The default remains 15 products, but this can be adjusted as desired.

  4. Continuous Scroll
Removes traditional pagination, allowing products to load automatically as the shopper scrolls down.

  5. Continuous Scroll + Load More Button
Combines continuous scrolling with a “Load More” button, which users must click to load additional products on the same page. You can customize the text for this button.

Product Ratings

Enabling Smart Search Product Ratings will display an average star rating and the total number of reviews for products in search results, provided that ratings exist for those products. By default, this toggle will be set to off.

Ensure an active supported integration is enabled in Rebuy for your review app to display reviews. For further details on currently supported review apps, please visit the Smart Search FAQ.

To enable product ratings on your smart search results page, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your smart search results page settings.

  2. Click on the "Edit" option.

  3. On the left-hand navigation, toggle on the option labeled 'product ratings'.

Add to Cart Button

In this section, you have the option to toggle on an "Add to Cart" button that will appear on the results, providing a seamless way for your customers to add a product to their cart. This feature is valuable for boosting conversions. Additionally, you can customize the text that will appear on these "Add to Cart" buttons to better suit your needs.

Example:

Selectors

If you have a customized theme, you may need to utilize the advanced selectors within the results page settings to ensure the Smart Search displays properly. Rebuy provides default selectors that are configured to work seamlessly with default Shopify themes, so you might not require these advanced selectors. However, if needed, here are the definitions.

We advise previewing Smart Search before making any adjustments to these settings. In most cases, default themes will function properly with the default elements we have configured for you. These selectors should only be necessary if Smart Search is not behaving as expected.

Embedded Element

An Embedded Element refers to content, such as multimedia or interactive components, that is integrated directly into a web page. This is where we embed the search display to.
