Widget Dashboard Page: Create a Widget and Manage the Ones You Have

Create a Rebuy widget from the Widgets page by picking the widget first and the location second, and manage the widgets you already have.

Written by Tom

The Widgets page is where you build every Rebuy widget, see what your widgets earned over the last 30 days, and open, duplicate, or delete a widget you already have. Creating a widget starts with the widget you want rather than the page it sits on, and the location is chosen afterwards.

Open the Widgets page

To open the Widgets page, the widget dashboard in the Rebuy admin, click Cart & Merchandising and then Widgets in the left sidebar instead of the sidebar's Dashboard entry. The sidebar label for widgets varies by plan, and the steps below cover both versions. What loads depends on whether you have built a widget before.

  1. Log in to the Rebuy admin.

  2. In the left sidebar, click Cart & Merchandising and then Widgets. On some plans the sidebar shows a single Merchandising Widgets entry instead, which opens the same Widgets page.

The page loads with a Widgets header at the top. If you have built widgets before, a Your Widgets table sits further down the page. If you have not, a Create Your First Widget button appears instead. If neither loads, refresh the page and confirm you are signed in to the correct store using the store selector at the top of the sidebar.

Widgets page in the Rebuy admin, reached through Cart & Merchandising then Widgets, showing the Create New button, Total Revenue and Total Orders cards for the last 30 days, the Recommended For You card, and the Your Widgets table.

What the Widgets page shows before you build anything

Before your store has a widget, the Widgets page is a starting point rather than a management screen. It shows a Create Your First Widget button and a performance card reading that there is no performance data yet and that Rebuy will report here on how your widgets are performing once you get started. The Create Your First Widget button opens the widget creation page, which is headed Create Your First Widget! until your store has its first widget.

Below that, a Top-Performing Widgets card highlights starter widgets, each with a short description, its goal tags, and a badge. The starter widgets and their badges are listed in the table below.

See what your widgets earned in the last 30 days

Once your store has widgets, two performance cards sit directly under the Widgets header and cover the last 30 days. Total Revenue is the revenue Rebuy attributed to your widgets in that window, and Total Orders is the number of orders they were attributed to. Both are shown as whole numbers with no decimals.

These cards are a summary, not a report. For per-widget and per-product breakdowns, click See Widgets Reporting in the top right of the page, which opens the Widgets Analytics tab in Reports.

Act on the Recommended For You suggestions

The Recommended For You card sits between the performance cards and the Your Widgets table, and it suggests ways to get more out of the widgets you already have. It is the same set of suggestions for every store rather than a per-store recommendation.

Act on the Recommended For You suggestions on the Rebuy Widgets page, showing the Add widgets to Smart Cart card with its Smart Cart button, and the A/B Test your widgets card with its A/B Testing button and the Included In Your Plan badge.

Add widgets to Smart Cart points out that Cross-Sell and Gift with Purchase widgets can be placed inside your cart, and its Smart Cart button opens the Smart Cart editor.

A/B Test your widgets suggests testing widget variants against each other, and its A/B Testing button opens A/B Testing. What this card shows depends on your plan. If your plan includes A/B testing, the card carries an Included In Your Plan badge and the button takes you straight there. If your plan does not include it, the card shows a Requires Upgrade row with a Learn more link and a 14-Day Free Trial badge instead, and you need to start the trial or upgrade before you can build a widget experiment.

Find a widget in the Your Widgets table

The Your Widgets table lists every widget on your store, with the current widget count shown in the heading. Widgets are sorted by Last Viewed, so the one you opened most recently is at the top.

Each row describes one widget across the columns below.

Column

What it shows

Name

The widget's name. Clicking it opens the widget editor.

Widget ID

A copyable tag identifying the widget. Use it when scoping custom CSS or when giving a widget reference to Rebuy support.

Type

The widget type, such as a cross-sell or a gift with purchase.

Data Source

The ruleset that decides which products the widget shows. Clicking it opens the data source editor.

Created

The date the widget was created.

Last Viewed

The date the widget was last opened in the admin.

Status

Live if the widget is currently active on your storefront, Offline if it is not.

To narrow the table, type into the search bar above it, or use the Location dropdown to show only widgets in one place on your store. The Location dropdown offers All Widgets, Home Page, Product Page, Cart Page, Account Page, and Global, and it accepts one selection at a time, so you cannot view product page and cart page widgets together. To compare widgets across locations, leave the dropdown on All Widgets and use the search bar instead.

Edit, duplicate, or delete a widget

Every row in the Your Widgets table has a menu at the end of the row with Edit, Duplicate, and Delete.

  • Edit opens the widget editor, the same place clicking the widget's name takes you.

  • Duplicate creates a copy of the widget, which is useful as a starting point for a second widget with slightly different settings or as a variant for an A/B test.

  • Delete removes the widget and asks you to confirm first. A deleted widget cannot be restored, so if you only want to take a widget off your storefront temporarily, open it and set it offline instead of deleting it.

Create a widget

Creating a widget starts from the widget itself, and Rebuy asks where to place it once you have chosen. You do not need to decide which page to merchandise before you start.

  1. On the Widgets page, click Create New. If this is your store's first widget, click Create Your First Widget instead. Both open the same page.

  2. Browse the widget cards, or use the search bar to look a widget up by name.

  3. To narrow the list by what you want the widget to achieve, use the goal buttons described in the next section.

  4. Click Create on the widget you want.

  5. Choose where the widget appears, as described in the section on choosing a location below.

The widget editor opens with the widget created and its settings ready to configure. The widget will not appear on your storefront until it is installed and set live, which the setup guide for that widget type covers.

Create New Widget page in the Rebuy admin, with the goal filter buttons for Increase Order Value, Recover Carts, Grow Subscriptions, Improve Discovery, and Reward Loyalty above the searchable widget cards, each card showing a badge, goal tags, and a Create button.

Narrow the widget list to a business goal

The Not sure where to start? section at the top of the Create Widget page filters the widget list by the outcome you are after. Expand it to see the goal buttons: Increase Order Value, Recover Carts, Grow Subscriptions, Improve Discovery, and Reward Loyalty.

Click a goal to select it. Selected goals highlight in blue, and a banner tells you how many widgets match. The widget list below re-sorts so the closest matches to what you selected appear first, and each widget card carries the goals it is tagged with, so you can see why it was matched.

You can select more than one goal, and the match gets looser as you add goals, because a widget carries at most two goals. Selecting one or two goals ranks widgets by how many of those goals they carry. Selecting three or four treats a widget as a strong match when it carries at least two of the goals you picked. Selecting every goal returns the list to its default, unfiltered order, so selecting all of them has the same effect as selecting none. If the ranking stops looking useful, deselect goals until you are down to the one or two that matter most.

Narrow the widget list to a business goal on the Create New Widget page, with goal buttons selected in blue, the banner showing how many widgets match, and the matching widget cards listed below.

Choose a location for the widget

After you click Create on a widget, Rebuy asks you to choose a location for it, unless the widget offers only one location. A widget with a single location skips this step, and Rebuy creates it and opens the widget editor directly.

For every other widget, a Select a location window lists the locations that widget supports, with the first location in the list already selected. When one location is the most common choice for that widget, it is listed first and marked Most popular for this widget. Some widgets, such as Custom Widget, have no most popular location, so the first location is selected with no badge. Click the location you want, then click Continue, and Rebuy creates the widget and opens the widget editor. Click Cancel to go back to the widget cards without creating anything.

The location you choose sets which installation guide the Install link in the widget editor shows you, and it does not place the widget on your storefront by itself. Where the widget actually appears depends on where you install it in your theme. Choose the location you plan to install the widget on, so the installation guide matches your setup.
